He is current leading the development of High Energy Density research on the 4th generation x-ray light sources in Europe and the United States. He is now the Senior Scientist in the Physics Department at LLNL and the Editor-in-Chief of the journal "High energy Density Physics" launched in December 2005. His main research area is high energy density plasma spectroscopy, which includes non-LTE population kinetics simulation, spectral line shape calculation, and spectral synthesis.
