My research focuses on X-Ray Microscopy, mostly using the Fourier Transform Holography approach. The analysis of the trade-off between spatial x-ray coherence and available intensity allows minimization of the x-ray fluence required for microscopy images. This becomes important in advancing the x-ray microscopy resolution barrier towards 10 nanometers in order to compete with electron microscopy.
Furthermore I am studying the demagnetization of magnetic thin films on femtosecond timescales, after exposure to a femtosecond optical laser pulse. I am interested in the mechanism of ultrafast demagnetization, whether it is band structure enhanced Elliot-Yafet type scattering or purely temperature dependent spin-orbit relaxation.
