1.
I work on the SLAC/Stanford program of laser-driven particle acceleration of relativistic electrons in vacuum. This includes the commissioning and operation of the E163 facility at SLAC, the development of accelerator microstructures and execution of fundamental accelerator physics experiments.
2.
I also study the possibility of the application of laser-driven particle accelerators for the generation of electron micro bunches and coherent radiation from these, which could lead to attosecond free-electron radiation sources.
3.
In addition, I am exploring the concept of laser-driven ultra-fast electron manipulation microstructures. The successful development of these could lead to a compact dielectric based micro-undulator that is compatible with laser accelerators.
